LGBT Network – United Colors: A BIPOC Group (18+) – Spirits, Folklore, & Acceptance
United Colors is a dedicated space for LGBTQ+ BIPOC adults to navigate real talk and real life, then unwind with creativity, games, and genuine connection. Bring your whole self—we’re here for all of it.
Day of the Dead (Día de (los) Muertos), All Saints Day, All Souls Day, & Fèt Gede are celebrated by many Black and Brown people during November. All of these have deep connections to African or Indigenous spiritual beliefs, merged with Catholic holidays. Why and how? Did your abuela have a table with a white cloth and cups of water? Ever see various people from all walks of life visit a Botanica that has herbs, candles, charms, statues of Catholic Saints and African deities? Do you have an ancestor altar, attended a Voodoo/Santeria ceremony, or sought help from a bruja? Do you feel more accepted as a LGBTQ person in non-traditional religions? Let’s talk about it.
